Mauro Icardi

According to reports from Fichajes, Chelsea and Liverpool strike target Mauro Icardi is open to leaving Inter Milan at the end of the season.

After bagging 27 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions last term, including a 22-goal haul in Serie A to finish up as the division’s top scorer, the Nerazzurri front-man was linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The 23 year-old ended speculation by signing a four-year contract in June and two months later was handed the captain’s armband at the San Siro.

But the Argentina international has struggled to live up to expectations as Inter’s goalscoring skipper, netting just three times in ten appearances and finding himself benched for last weekend’s 1-0 win over Roma.

That lead to rumours of Liverpool preparing a January bid for the £25million-rated striker, whilst Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

And in a boost to the transfer efforts of the Premier League trio, Fichajes claim Icardi now has one eye on a move away from Milan at the end of the season.

They claim the 5 foot 11 striker is keen to engage upon the next step in his career, with a preference to join either the English or Spanish top flights, and also allege Inter would be interested in selling should they receive a significant offer.
