2. Thomas Muller

According to reports from Kicker via The Express, Thomas Muller is stalling on a contract extension at Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented and unique attacking threats throughout world football, famed for his ability to perform well in any position across the middle or final third whilst producing a consistent supply of goals.

Indeed, the offensive all-rounder’s mix of physicality, technical flair and netting prowess has seen him claim 139 goals in 323 appearances for the Bavarians alongside ten goals and the last two World Cups – helping fire Germany to the title in 2014.

Manchester United were hot on the 68-cap international’s heels during the summer transfer window, with some sources reporting a record-breaking bid of £88million.

Manager Louis van Gaal helped bring Muller through the ranks at the Allianz Arena during his tenure as Bayern boss and prioritised the versatile forward as the ideal signing to lead United’s forward line – but his advances were continually knocked back by the Bundesliga giants.

But reports from Kicker offer the Red Devils a glimmer of hope in their pursuit of the 6 foot 1 attacker. They claim Muller is hesitating on Bayern’s latest contract offer, which will extend his terms by two years until 2021.

It suggests Muller may not finish his career as a one-club man, a situation assumed by many. But with four years remaining on his current deal, a move to Old Trafford any time soon still seems unlikely.
