Jorginho

According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Jorginho’s agent has revealed that the Napoli midfielder intends to stay on at Stadio San Paolo despite reported interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 23-year-old rose to acclaim at former club Hellas Verona, playing a pivotal role in their 2012/13 promotion from Serie B and bagging seven goals in 18 appearances the following season in Serie A – until being prized away by Napoli in January 2014.

The £22million-rated midfielder’s recent form has attracted interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton and Manchester United, whilst leading some to demand a call-up to the Italian national team.

The Red Devils have been tracking Jorginho since the start of the season, after being alerted to his potential by the same scout who helped bring Matteo Darmian to Old Trafford during the summer, whilst Arsenal scout Tony Banfield was spotted running the rule over the Brazilian-born playmaker during a recent scoreless draw with Genoa.

Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, confirmed Banfield’s presence at the match earlier this month, telling Radio CRC; “I’m not surprised that the player is doing very well – especially in light of the change of coach –  and has top clubs interested in him. One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match.”

And Santos has been talking to the Italian radio station once again, this time insisting that the 5 foot 11 midfielder is fully focused on extending his Napoli stay past summer 2018. As quoted by Calcio Mercato, he said; “I have met Napoli’s executives, but I haven’t talk about Jorginho’s contract. At the moment our will is to remain in Naples, we hope that this will be a historical season for Sarri’s team.”

The agent first revealed his plans to renegotiate Jorginho’s contract earlier this month.
