Cristiano Ronaldo

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to commit his long-term future to Real Madrid amid rumours that he could leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The former Red Devil left Old Trafford for the Spanish capital in 2009 and has since affirmed his status as one of the top talents of his generation; winning three Ballon d’Ors, the 2014 Champions League title and amassing a rather incredible 323 goals in 309 appearances for Los Blancos.

Last night he matched Raul’s all-time top scorer record with a brace against Malmo in the Champions League.

But reports earlier this month claimed that the Portugal international could leave Los Blancos at the end of the season, leading to rumours that ex-employers Manchester United are preparing a world-record £92.5million bid to re-sign him next summer.

And according to The Metro, Ronaldo has added further fuel to speculation by refusing to commit himself to the former European champions.

After the win against Malmo yesterday evening, he said; “I am happy here, I want to win things here. I feel good, but as I have said millions of times no one knows what will happen in the future. We will see what happens tomorrow but at this moment in time I am happy at Real Madrid.

“No one knows what will happen next year. I am happy here, but you never know what will happen in the future. I have to achieve things here, I feel good, I want to win things with Real Madrid because I think this club has potential to win things, but I don’t know what will happen in the future.”

French journalist Frederic Hermel recently claimed that United, fellow suitors PSG and clubs from the MLS have a ‘great chance‘ of signing the 30 year-old next summer.
