Morgan Fox

According to reports from BBC Sport yesterday morning, highly-rated left-back Morgan Fox has signed a one-year contract extension with Charlton Athletic.

The 22 year-old made his debut for the Addicks in 2014 and emerged as a first-team regular last season, amassing 25 appearances across all competitions.

Following the departure of countryman Rhoys Wiggins during the summer, the Wales U21 has made the No.3 berth his own at The Valley this term, registering nine Championship appearances. In the process, he’s bagged one goal and averaged 2.3 tackles per match.

Earlier this week, Mirror Football reported that Manchester United were targeting the 6 foot 1 defender as a potential replacement for England left-back Luke Shaw, who looks set to sit out the majority of the campaign with a double leg-break.

They also claimed that fellow Premier League outfits Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham have been keeping tabs on Fox’s progress.

However, any attempts by United to sign the Welshman in January – as alleged by The Express – will now have to be put on hold after Charlton tied him and team-mate Tareiq Holmes-Dennis down to extended terms earlier this week.

They’re now contracted to the South East London outfit until 2018.
