Neymar

According to reports from Inside Futbol this afternoon, PSG are eyeing Manchester United target Neymar as a potential replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 23 year-old forward, who has bagged five goals and five assists in his last five appearances for Barcelona, was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer and his father has since confirmed that the Red Devils made a formal bid to sign him – believed to be worth around £139million.

The European champions have been desperate to extend Neymar’s contract past 2018 since United’s bid but the Brazil international is reportedly reluctant to do so despite publicly insisting otherwise, fearing his ultimate ambition of claiming the Ballon d’Or will be impossible whilst playing in the same team as four-time winner Lionel Messi.

According to Inside Futbol, however, who summarise in English an article from French publication L’Equipe, a new rival has emerged in the race to sign the 5 foot 9 attacker.

French champions PSG have earmarked Cristiano Ronaldo as their preferred successor to iconic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract expires at the end of the season, but will turn to Neymar if the Real Madrid forward is unavailable.
