Nolito

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Arsenal are willing to activate the £13.3million release clause of Celta Vigo forward Nolito in January.

The Spaniard has always been highly-rated, throughout his spells with Barcelona B, Benfica and Granada, and during the summer was linked with a move to Everton – as well as a shock return to the Nou Camp.

But the 28 year-old has really upped his game this season, bagging five strikes and three set-ups in six La Liga appearances to top the division’s goals and assists charts. He’s also averaged the most created chances per match (3) of any player in the league.

And according to The Daily Star, who cite Spanish publication Fichajes, that has tempted Arsenal into activating Nolito’s release clause when the transfer window opens in January.

But they also claim Barcelona are still in the mix to sign the £13.3million-valued Spain international, who claimed his first cap in November 2014, and could launch a swoop once their transfer embargo is lifted in the new year.

During the summer, Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo admitted the club would be unable to stop Nolito leaving. He said; “If someone pays his release clause, we will find a replacement just as we would do with any other player. It would be an important loss for us and it would mean we would have to search for an important replacement.”
