Calhanoglu

According to reports from talkSPORT yesterday afternoon, Arsenal are long-term admirers of prodigious Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu – who was linked with AC Milan and Manchester United earlier this week.

The 21 year-old, dubbed ‘the new Mesut Ozil’ by talkSPORT, is one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting prospects and particularly famed for his proficiency from dead ball situations; a trait mostly responsible for his career return of 46 goals and 34 assists in 152 appearances – including five goals and two assists in twelve outings this season.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that AC Milan have shortlisted the Turkey international as amongst ‘the world’s best young talent’, whilst Manchester United are reportedly considering a bid of £29.4million after seeing a £25million offer rejected on summer deadline day.

But talkSPORT claim that Calhanoglu ‘has been on Arsenal’s radar for a while’ whilst also listing Barcelona as potential suitors of the attacking midfielder, who scored the most free kicks of any player in Europe last season.

That suggests Manchester United’s interest in the former Hamburg man is by no means as clear cut as it originally seemed just days ago, with four of Europe’s biggest clubs all potentially baying for his signature.

Manchester United should do all it can to sign the player as he is suited for their development plan as a youthful talented player and the team is noted for youth development.

He can help Manchester United to achieve laurels so they should sign him before being hijacked by their rivals.
