According to reports from The Express yesterday evening, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are both targeting AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda.
The Japan international, who boasts 73 caps and 29 goals for his country, moved to the San Siro only 18 months ago and has since produced seven goals and six assists in 43 Serie A appearances.
But his place in the starting Xi seems no longer certain following the appointment of manager Sinisa Mihajlovic in June and it’s believed the 29 year-old was originally signed by AC Milan as a marketing ploy to generate a fan base in the Far East.
The Express, citing Italian publication TuttoSport, claim Rossoneri are now prepared to cash-in on Honda, with Premier League duo Everton and Tottenham emerging as potential suitors.
Spurs are yet to add to their midfield this summer and the British tabloid allege they’re now prepared to rival any bid from the Goodison outfit.
Meanwhile, the Lilywhites are preparing for their opening fixture of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign – a tricky trip to Manchester United.
