Alexandre Lacazette

According to reports from The Express this morning, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United strike target Alexandre Lacazette will sign a contract extension at Lyon within the next few days.

The 24 year-old produced incredible form for the Stade de Gerland outfit last season. His 27-goal league haul was bettered throughout Europe’s leading top flights by only El Clasico duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, seeing him claim Ligue 1’s Player of the Year award for 2014/15 and a second consecutive slot in the division’s Team of the Year.

That’s generated plenty of interest in the France international; Arsenal and Liverpool were linked in June, whilst Manchester United have also been mooted as potential suitors.

Reports yesterday revealed that due to his poor performances in pre-season amid a lengthy contract dispute, the Lyon hierarchy have delivered Lacazette an ultimatum; sign a new deal or prepare to be sold.

That suggested Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United’s chances of signing the 5 foot 9 attacker had drastically improved. But according to The Express, Lacazette has agreed an extended contract with Les Gones that he’ll officially sign within the next few days.

They source French football expert Matt Spiro, who tweeted; “Lacazette will sign new Lyon contract in coming days.”
