According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Arsenal have seen a £13million bid for defensive prodigy Daniele Rugani rejected by Juventus.
The Serie A champions signed the 6 foot 2 centre-back in summer 2013 but have allowed him to continue his development on loan at former club Empoli for the last two seasons.
Last term, he featured in every minute of the Stadio Carlo Castellani outfit’s league campaign to help them secure a 15th place finish in the top flight, averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 6.9 clearances and 2.8 aerial duels per match.
That’s generated plenty of interest in the Azzurri junior, who boasts 44 caps for Italy across the youth levels. According to reports from The Daily Star in April, Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all considering summer bids.
Amid links to Napoli, agent Davide Torchia claimed in June that the Old Lady intend to use the 20 year-old in their first team squad next season, resultantly ruling out a summer transfer.
“Juventus want to hold on to Rugani,” Torchia told Radio Marte, as quoted by talkSPORT.
“The Bianconeri will not consider any offers, even for a loan. A negotiation between Napoli and Juventus, for a 20-year-old player with his potential certainly seems unlikely.”
But that hasn’t deterred the Gunners’ interest, according to The Express. Citing TuttoSport, they claim Arsenal have launched a £13million bid for the youngster which has since been rejected.
Whether the north London outfit will increase their offer remains to be seen.
