According to reports from talkSPORT earlier this week, Manchester United are putting together a deal worth £120million to try and bring Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller to the Premier League this summer.

The 25 year-old is one of the most formidable and complete attacking threats in world football, famed for his industry, versatility and consistent supply of goals. Since his Bavarians debut in 2008, he’s amassed 121 goals in 304 appearances.

The German international has also played a pivotal role in his country’s escapades at the last two World Cups, picking up the Golden Boot in 2010 and netting five times as Die Mannschaft lifted the international title in 2014.

Louis van Gaal knows Muller well from his two-year spell as Allianz Arena boss and according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein is now desperate to bring him to Old Trafford.

He claims United are preparing a £120million package, including wages for a five-year contract, but believes the deal is unlikely to go ahead.

As quoted by talkSPORT, Honigstein said; “Bayern Munich consider him not for sale and an intrinsic part of the team. He is a on a very long contract. But United tried last year and have tried again.”

“There is a suggestion in Munich that Ed Woodward will try to meet one of the Bayern officials to see if may there is a possibility, but I think it is very unlikely that they make that deal right now.

“The figure being bandied around is about £120million. That includes the wages on a five-year deal, so is maybe not as impressive when you break it down. United haven’t quite given up yet, but there will come a point where they will feel it’s not going to happen.”
