Fabio Borini

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, former Manchester United boss David Moyes is hoping to sign Liverpool forward Fabio Borinio for Real Sociedad.

The Italy international was one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings at Anfield, arriving from Roma in summer 2012 for a £10.5million fee after working with the Reds gaffer at Swansea City and during his days in the Chelsea youth system.

But he’s since managed just 25 Premier League appearances for the Merseysiders – including a paltry three league starts last season – and has found his best form away from the club; particularly, his 10-goal loan spell with Sunderland during the 2013/14 campaign.

The arrivals of fellow forwards Divock Origi and Danny Ings – soon to be followed by Christian Benteke – have deemed the 24 year-old surplus to requirements at Liverpool and according to The Express, former Manchester United boss David Moyes is keen offer him an escape route.

Citing Spanish website InsideFutbol, they claim the Scot, who has made no secret of his desire to bring Premier League talent to Anoeta in the past, is already in talks to sign Borini.

However, no reputable source has yet speculated the likely value of the transfer.
