Aleksandar Mitrovic

According to reports from The Daily Mail this afternoon, in-demand striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is set to join Newcastle United in a £13million deal.

The 20 year-old comes highly-rated with a prolific return of 44 goals in 90 appearances for current club Anderlecht, bringing his career total to 69 goals in 158 outings including his spells with Serbian outfits Teleoptik and Partizan.

That impressive haul has seen the Serbian international emerge as one of the most sought-after players outside of Europe’s leading top flights. FC Porto and Roma have both expressed an interest in Mitrovic, whilst reports earlier this week claimed Chelsea were looking to hijack any potential deal for the one-time Belgian Pro League winner.

According to The Daily Mail, however, Newcastle will complete their long-awaited move for the 6 foot 2 striker this weekend with a medical expected either today or tomorrow.

Mitrovic constitutes the Magpies’ second major signing of the summer, after wrapping up a £14.7million deal for Feyenoord midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum last week.
