According to reports from The Express this morning, Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez has dismissed reports suggesting star defender Sergio Ramos will be sold to Manchester United this summer.

The 2010 World Cup winner’s future at the Bernabeu is shrouded in serious doubt following allegations from Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Majo last month; who claims he was recently offered the centre-back as an ‘electoral asset’ for the club’s ballot on July 18th.

Since then, reports have claimed the Spain international is ‘desperate‘ to leave the Bernabeu, leading to a series of bids from Manchester United – the latest being allegedly worth just under £42million – who are in need of experience at the heart of defence.

But club president Florentino Perez insisted the 6 foot centre-back won’t be sold this summer during Iker Casillas’ farewell ceremony in Madrid and ex-Liverpool gaffer Benitez has now followed suit.

“In terms of Sergio Ramos, there’s a lot of talk about his situation,” Benitez said. “For me, he is an enormous professional. In person, he applies himself, he does everything that the team and I ask of him.

“And for me, the matter (is that) the president has already commented that he is staying with the club. I have spoken to him at length in the summer about his ideas, about his future.

“I see Sergio as an integral part of our team, he’s a winner and that’s what we need in our team,” he added.

It’s believed Real Madrid would only part with the 29 year-old for a record-breaking £64million.
