According to reports from talkSPORT this afternoon, Tottenham are targeting Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.
The France international has continually demonstrated his world-class shot-stopping abilities since arriving at White Hart Lane in summer 2012, this season making the most saves of any goalkeeper in the Premier League’s top seven – an impressive 79.
That’s reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month – with the Red Devils particularly keen on the 28 year-old as a potential replacement for Real Madrid-bound PFA Player of the Year nominee David De Gea.
The Lilywhites have attempted to ward off suitors with a rather outrageous £40million valuation, which would make Lloris the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the sport.
But that hasn’t stopped the north London outfit considering replacements for their in-demand No.1, according to talkSPORT.
Citing German publication BILD, they claim Spurs are targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Roman Weidenfeller, a 13-year servant at Westfalenstadion.
The 34 year-old is established and well-proven, and could leave the Black-Yellows amid a summer window of great uncertainty, following their infamously dire 2014/15 campaign.
Whether that will relax Spurs’ determination to retain Lloris for next season remains to be seen.
You don’t think he might be Brad Fredels replacement?
Indeed Bog. It appears you have confused the usual Harry headline (£40 million) with the Lloris headline tosh; unless his price has risen overnight. Not sure why I read this rubbish!
If Man U wants lloris ; they will need to offer 35 million plus Hernandez.
There is nothing outrageous about setting a high price for a player that is wanted by a team that is trying to assemble “the best team money can buy”.
