According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Tottenham Hotspur have ended their interest in Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

The 22 year-old defensive-mid has just come to the end of a terrific campaign for L’OM; bagging two goals and two assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances, whilst averaging 2.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3 successful dribbles per match.

As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were both believed to be considering summer bids for the France international – with some reports claiming Spurs would offer flopped signing Benjamin Stambouli, who has managed just four Premier League starts since moving to White Hart Lane from Montpellier last summer, in exchange.

But according to The Daily Mail, the Lilywhites have now dropped out of the race to sign Imbula, who has previously been on the radars of Arsenal and Manchester United, leaving Chelsea in pole position.

The north Londoners reportedly want to focus their attentions and funds on another Ligue 1 prodigy – teenage Monaco forward Anthony Martial.
