Nathaniel Clyne

According to reports from The Liverpool Echo yesterday afternoon, Liverpool are preparing an improved bid for Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne.

The right-back has just come to the end of a strong campaign at St. Mary’s, averaging the fifth-most tackles per match, 3.3, of any Premier League player as part of a Saints defence who recorded the second-healthiest goals conceded record in the division.

That’s seen the 24 year-old ascend to the England fold and also attract interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs – who are hoping to sign a home-grown talent at a reduced rate due to his contract expiring at the end of next season.

As This Is Futbol revealed last month, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are all believed to be monitoring Clyne’s situation, whilst Liverpool launched an ill-fated £10million bid three weeks ago. Meanwhile, Southampton have offered the former Crystal Palace youngster extended terms, which he’s yet to accept.

But according to The Liverpool Echo, the Anfield outfit are now prepared to increase their offer, viewing Clyne as the perfect replacement for bosman-bound No.2 Glen Johnson. Reports from Squawka claim the Reds will now bid £11million, in the hope it will convince Ronald Koeman’s side to take a reduction on their £15million valuation.

After Woy botch the current England manager tried to further unsettle Clyne by not playing the best English Right back in the country. Liverpool up their low budget bid by only one million to 11 million – why ? do they seem to be working together . Clyne learn from other players who have had poor seasons after joining Liverhampton. If you do leave Southampton and I hope you don\\’t, then move up and join a better club who can offer more for example Man Utd / Man City not a club offering the same. I know what\\’s important is the Football not money remember at Southampton you will play every week you are fit and have a European adventure. Stay you know it makes sense. Also Southampton have yet to put a price on Clyne not sure where 15 million came from I heard it’s over 20 million for a player of his age, ability, nationality, remembering that Shaw went for 33 million, albeit Clyne has a year left on his contract but 11 million is way too low as a second bid.
