According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Arsenal are leading the pack in the race to sign Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.

The Algerian international has been in impressive form since joining the Naples outfit in January 2014, last term averaging 1.6 tackles, 2.2 interceptions and 1.1 created chances per match from 21 Serie A outings. And following the Italian outfit’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, he’s emerged as a potential target for several top European clubs.

Indeed, Premier League champions Chelsea have already seen an £11million bid for the 24 year-old rejected according to reports earlier this month, whilst Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been mooted as potential suitors.

The recent appointment of former Napoli boss Rafa Benitez suggests the Bernabeu outfit will likely launch a bid during the summer window, but currently Arsenal are leading the race.

That’s according to The Express, who claim the Gunners could attempt to sign Ghoulam in a double deal alongside team-mate Gonzalo Higuain – who is also on the Arsenal radar.
