Claudio Marchisio

According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Premier League trio Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all targeting Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio amid an ongoing contract saga with the Old Lady.

The Italy international is a product of the Turin outfit’s academy, originally joining the club in 1993 and going on to make 308 appearances in all competitions since his debut in 2006. In that time he’s lifted four consecutive Serie A titles and made it to the 2015 Champions League final.

But the 29 year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season and talks over a new deal are yet to get underway. Interestingly enough, Juve officially announced the signing of Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira yesterday afternoon, who could well be Marchisio’s long-term replacement.

According to The Star, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all keen on the versatile midfielder, who is famed for his very complete and highly adaptable all-round game.

And adding further fuel to the transfer fires, father and agent Stefano Marchisio has recently told reporters; “The ball is in the Old Lady’s court. I don’t think they’ll let a player like him go… but if we don’t find an agreement, we’re going to look elsewhere.

“I have received many calls from the best clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga.”
