According to reports from The Daily Star and The Metro this morning, Arsenal and Manchester United are both targeting Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez.
The Switzerland international has been in sensational form over the last two campaigns, bagging eleven goals and 13 assists in his last 60 Bundesliga appearances, whilst also claiming two set-ups at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
This season he’s averaged the ninth-most created chances and third-most accurate crosses per match of any player in the German top flight, playing an intrinsic role in Die Wolfe claiming a second-place finish after champions Bayern Munich.
And according to The Daily Star, who cite German publication Bild, the 22 year-old’s contract includes a £24.4million release clause which Manchester United intend to activate this summer, with Louis van Gaal reportedly unhappy with Luke Shaw’s performances during the 2014/15 campaign.
The Metro, however, claim Arsenal will challenge United in the race for Rodriguez’s signature as they source replacements for Nacho Monreal, who is reportedly keen to return to Spain this summer.
Would be a good wing-back whether LvG is looking to stick with his 4-3-3 or looking to go back to his three at the back formation.
