According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Arsenal and Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan.
As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month, both clubs are hoping to sign the £15million-rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who is widely expected to leave Westfalen this summer when his contract enters it’s final year.
The recent resignation of Jurgen Klopp, as a consequence of Dortmund’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, has only made a summer departure even more likely.
However, the Premier League duo now face a new foe in their bid to sign the 24 year-old. Bayern Munich are also keen on a summer deal, which would see Gundogan link up with former Dortmund team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena.
Whether the Black-Yellows would let yet another key player join their direct divisional rivals remains to be seen – but Arsenal and United will be hoping they adamantly refuse to sell.
