Edinson Cavani

As reported by The Daily Mail this afternoon, the agent of Arsenal and Manchester United-linked PSG star Edinson Cavani has been surprisingly vocal about a potential move to either England or Spain this summer

This Is Futbol informed you earlier this week of the rift developing between the Uruguay striker and PSG manager Laurent Blanc. The latter found himself fielded on the wing yet again against Marseille at the weekend to make room for the enigmatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic up top, and appeared to express his disappointment in no uncertain terms when he was subbed off after 60 minutes.

Cavani then refused to rule out a move to the Premier League in an interview after PSG’s 3-2 win against L’OM, stating; “For now I think only to finish the season well here and give my best for the club that pays me. In Paris, I’m fine, but in football you never know what can happen in the future,” as reported by talkSPORT.

And there have been further developments today regarding the 28 year-old, who was linked to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United by The Express earlier this afternoon.

“Is Cavani on the market? At this point it’s a little early to say,” said agent Claudio Anelucci

“Edi is under contract at Paris Saint-Germain and there are several factors that come into play with respect to his future. Once the situation is clarified there are several different scenarios given that players like him, at his level of maturity, are coveted by the biggest clubs in Europe.

“The market would seem to suggest Spain or England – we can’t say at the present time that an Italian club could participate in the bidding for Cavani,” he added.

Whether this is a case of opportunist scaremongering for leverage over a new deal or a genuine interest in moving abroad, however, remains to be seen.
