According to reports from The Daily Mail this afternoon, Liverpool will attempt to sign Barcelona star Pedro if they’re forced to sell Raheem Sterling this summer.

As This Is Futbol informed you last week, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all believed to be on the England international’s trail after revelations of him rejecting a contract worth over £100k per-week that would have extended his Anfield stay past 2017.

Liverpool have valued Sterling at £50million to ward off potential suitors this summer, as reported by The Telegraph. But if they are forced to sell, the Daily Mail claim the Merseysiders will turn to Pedro as his direct replacement.

The 27 year-old has won four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with Barcelona, notching up 97 goals in 305 appearances, whilst also lifting the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship title with Spain. But he’s found first team opportunities difficult to come by this season in the wake of Luis Suarez’ £75million arrival last summer, registering just twelve starts in La Liga.

The news will be of particular disappointment to Arsenal – who were strongly linked with the Spain international, alongside Inter Milan, by The Metro earlier this week. Barcelona’s transfer embargo until summer 2016, however, could still stand in the way of a potential move to Merseyside.
