BellarabiWhilst Manchester United have been pretty bad this season, they’ve managed to climb back up the Premier League table because the teams around them have all been equally disappointing.

Whilst Chelsea and Manchester City are running away with things, Liverpool and Arsenal (Manchester United’s main competition) have been highly inconsistent. This has handed The Red Devils a great opportunity to finish third this season.

Still, you can bet that Arsenal and Liverpool are going to come back stronger next season. Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are probably already drawing up their transfer wishlists. If Louis Van Gaal wants to keep up, he’ll need to do likewise.

This leads me onto The Metro‘s claim that Manchester United are ready to close a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s highly regarded winger, Karim Bellarabi. The German international has an £11m release clause written into his contract and Van Gaal and co. are willing to trigger it.

This is good news as Manchester United have found themselves a little short of quality down the flanks this season. Their big money new signing Angel Di Maria (the man with the £59.7m price tag) has been largely disappointing, Antonio Valencia has been converted into a full-back and Ashley Young is as inconsistent as he’s ever been.

With Nani currently strutting his stuff over at Sporting Lisbon perhaps signing a new winger is the right move.

Bellarabi certainly looks like a good candidate for the job. He’s just turned 24-years-old this week, so he’s about to enter his peak years as a footballer. He’s a fully-fledged German international, who’s already got 9 goals to his name this season. He’s got bags of pace, he’s technically good and he’s got the vision and nous to take advantage when his team is on top.

He could prove to be an excellent fit for this Manchester United side. Let’s hope that Louis Van Gaal is willing to give him a chance.

What’s your take? Should The Red Devils be in the market for Karim Bellarabi?

Do you actually watch the United matches?

“Ashley Young is as inconsistent as he’s ever been” – He has been our best outfield player this season by far. No one else has come close. (DDG being the best player)
