Would this Spurs TRIPLE deal put the club back on track?

Jay Rodriguez 1Spurs aren’t in a particularly good position at the moment. I mean that in a couple of senses: first up, their 10th in the Premier League, when they really should be challenging for a top four slot (especially with all the usual competition struggling to get the results they need) and secondly, their prospects don’t look all that bright.

For the last two years or so, Tottenham have struggled to find a striker who can lead their line in an effective manner. Emmanuel Adebayor makes the minimum amount of effort possible to be a professional footballer. A lot of the time he makes even less effort than that. Roberto Soldado has been a disaster. He has his moments, but in general, he’s too careless in front of goal to provide the goods for Spurs moving forward. That leaves them with Harry Kane and that’s about all.

Mauricio Pochettino needs to make some big changes in just about every area of the pitch.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Pochettino is prepared to sell four of his players to help fund a January recruitment drive. The players who face the chop are Jan Vertonghen, Emmanuel Adebayor, Aaron Lennon and Mousa Dembele. I’d keep Vertonghen, but the other three are good to go in my opinion.

In return, Spurs are hoping to sign Real Madrid’s experienced centre-back Raul Albiol and two Southampton stars: Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez. I can’t help but feel that these three would help to add some serious balance to this Tottenham side.

Jay Rodriguez has had his injury issues, but his goal scoring record at a young age is rather impressive. He’d definitely improve Pochettino’s ailing front line. Schneiderlin and Albiol, on the other hand, would help to add some steel to the club’s defense. Albiol is a veteran of the game and I’m sure he’d be a hit at White Hart Lane. Schneiderlin would come complete with Premier League experience and would have plenty to offer as well.

One thing’s for sure: Pochettino has to try something drastic and this triple deal looks like a step in the right direction.

What’s your take? Would you like to see this terrible trio strutting their stuff at White Hart Lane?

Sell 4 or 5 of d so called magnificient 7.
KEEP KEEP LENNON N VERTS. These R our Better players.

Lennon is a pacy winger who can cause defenders probems. He may not score too many goals, BUT he attracts defenders n open up the attac for Spurs strikers n attacking midfield players.
Who else have Spurs got, in scoring goals.
    U don’t score, you don’t win games.

you say keep Lennon but in same sentence you point out the fact that if you don’t score goals you don’t win games and Lennon doesn’t score. I have been a fan or Lennon over the years but his “potential” has never really materialised. Lots of pace but no end product. If we are to improve I agree with selling Adebayor, Lennon and Dembele but we MUST keep Vertonghen. COYS

If either of you believe Lennon is fit to wear a spurs shirt you have shit for brains.

        • Enorme Nuez says:

If offers much more than the other “wingers” in the Spurs ranks. A wingers only goal should be to get crosses in. Scoring should be secondary. However for the likes of Townsend and Chadli this is their first option. Lennon doesn’t come close to doing this. It is a combination of too many injuries taking a toll on his confidence and the number of managers over the years giving him far many differing instructions. What he on his side is pace and defensive understanding that helps out the fullback.

Dumbbell could be the center of the team. None of the other MF players are anywhere near him. Lennon should not be for sale at all, and Adebayor is still the best striker in the club. So spurs need a center-back, and a replacement for Soldado. Tottenham would have had 12 points more than they have had Soldado scored goals.

  • Perry says:

Selling Dembele before the likes of Paulinho and Capoue is beyond stupid, let Poch bring the best out of Dembele he is capable of being great the other two are capable of being average.

Last prem game Lennon played in he set up the winner. Tell me why that’s a player that we want to sell. Wingers provide and he has looked our most potent threat at providing service other than Eriksen when he has played recently. He is unselfish and looks better than lamela Townsend dembele capoue adebayor paulinho naughton chiriches. These are the players that want shipping out first before we get rid of a loyal servant who does his one job well. He may not be a top four player but his skills merit a place in a team higher than spurs current position. Therefore keep him for a year or two more when we actually have some contributors on the pitch who are better

i’d keep lennon and sell townsend..after the unjury, he’s never been the same player..as for vert, don’t mind if he stays or he goes..provided a good CB is brought in..

Tottenham Has Become a club that foreign players know they will be payed very well. We are not Man U, Chelsea etc. They don’t care and to be honest they are not loved at W.H.Lane. We as Yids have to learn
to support are team and encourage them, so they realise that they belong to a great club. Be Proud

Capoue, Townsend, Paulino, Dembele, Vertonghen, Chiriches, Kaboul, Ade and Lennon will all be on the transfer list.

Dembele has been threatened with a move to Real if He doesn`t pull his socks up 😉 Vertonghen just does not want to be at WHL, no point in holding onto a player that is not going to put in a shift or show any interest, only counter productive to the cause and a moral breaker.

Lennon and Townsend, maybe if they were played in their favoured positions we would be more of a threat going forward, look at Lennon`s last PL turnout, assist from his position of RW, why oh why does Poch play inverted wingers, easily read by the opposition and inevitably lose the ball and put us under duress.

Interesting that Adebayor disappeared after the rumour of a bust up added by Kaboul against Harry Kane, Kaboul has not featured when Kane is on the team? Kaboul Cpt?
