Should Liverpool be ‘seriously’ considering this £8m ace?

Ryan-BertrandWhilst clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City have been somewhat shy and tentative this summer, Liverpool have been significantly more forthright. The Reds seem to be closing deals left, right and centre.

Brendan Rodgers is seemingly desperate to get deals wrapped up quickly so that the players who are brought in have a decent pre-season at the club and are able to gel with their new team-mates.

This must also be the result of good planning. Rodgers would have had a transfer wish-list that he’s been working through this summer. What’s more, a lot of the deals that have been signed this summer may be the result of work he’s done in previous transfer windows. He’s a smart cookie and it’ll be interesting to see how this new look Liverpool side perform next season.

It’ll also be interesting to see if Rodgers has another signing or two left to make this summer. Doesn’t he need to bring in a new left-back, for instance?

We know that he’s spent a large portion of this summer chasing after Sevilla’s young Spanish full-back, Alberto Moreno. Unfortunately, it looks like The Reds have been priced out of the market and will now look elsewhere for their left-back fix.

This brings me to one of Chelsea’s current options in this department, Ryan Bertrand. According to The Mirror, the 24-year-old English full-back is being ‘seriously considered’ as Liverpool’s next major transfer target. The source also slaps an £8m price-tag on Bertrand.

Bertrand’s learned by watching Ashley Cole in action and he’s started to blossom into a very fine option himself. He’s a smart defender, who’s pacey enough to get back quickly and make timely interceptions. He’s also pretty comfortable on the ball and he’s got a decent cross on him. This makes him a good all rounder, which should help him to make a mark at Anfield.

Unfortunately, he’s not getting much of a look-in at Chelsea. I’m sure he’d appreciate being offered an escape route by Brendan Rodgers. Now we just have to see if Bertrand is on Rodgers’ transfer wish list.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool move in for Ryan Bertrand next this summer?

Ryan Bertrand was terrible at Villa Park from last January, just pay the cash for either Rodriguez or Moreno NOW.Bertrand is worse than Paul Konchesky and that’s saying a lot, hopefully Mourinho won’t sell too Liverpool ( But with him being so bad,I can see Mourinho asking for stupid money, like £10 Million Pounds ) This buy would be a catastrophic mistake.
