After a surprising season, where Liverpool took on all comers and came close to walking away with the Premier League title, it looks like their manager Brendan Rodgers has adopted a similar ‘do or die’ attitude in the summer transfer market. He’s been quick to act and has already managed to bring in some fantastic options.
But Liverpool fans will be hoping that he’s not finished just yet. Could Brendan Rodgers have another deal or two left in him?
According to The Mirror, Liverpool are still trying to wrap up a deal for Swiss international star, Xherdan Shaqiri. As the source notes, he’s a player who has been on The Reds radar for ‘what seems like an eternity’, but now Rodgers could be about to swoop in.
The source also quotes a ‘respected Norwegian source’, Tor-Kristian Karlsen, who claims: ‘According to my sources it’s between Liverpool and a new improved contract with Bayern for Xherdan Shaqiri’.
This puts the player in a very interesting position indeed. Does he stay with the German Champions and try and work his way into proper first team contention, or does he make a move to a club where he’s likely to get a lot more regular action?
It’s not like he wouldn’t have an opportunity to win silverware at Liverpool. The Reds are back on the rise again and with the new additions that have been brought in, who’s to say that they can’t bring home another Premier League title?
Unfortunately, there’s no word as to how much Xherdan Shaqiri might cost (though The Express claims that it would take ‘big money’ to close the deal).
That’s because he’s managed to impress at club and international level and he’s only 22-years-old. He only made 26 appearances for Bayern Munich last season, but he still managed to chip in with 7 goals. He’s very effective on his day.
He’s also skillful, smart and adventurous. I’m sure he’d make for an excellent addition to this Liverpool squad. Let’s just hope that Brendan Rodgers is able to convince him to leave Bayern.
What’s your take? Is Xherdan Shaqiri the perfect Liverpool transfer target?

BR…!!! Please get Shaqiri…!!! He’ll be a gem for us…!!!After Shaqiri, Markovic, Origi and Lovren, it’ll be time to target both a top RB and LB… Sell off Skrtel and Johnson and you’ll see that it makes a world of difference without them in the side… The defence will be much more consistent and stronger without them…!!!

Why don’t you just go ahead and establish a new football club? If you are only going to retain just three players out of the team that FINISHED SECOND IN THE EPL LAST SEASON! Wishful thinking my foot!!!
