GriezmannEverybody associated with Liverpool football club is well aware that replacing Luis Suarez isn’t going to be easy. It may well prove to be the biggest challenge of Brendan Rodgers’ career.

If he pulls it off, Rodgers will be rightly lauded. If he fails, his reputation may well sink to the level it was at during his first few months at Anfield.

Luckily, he’s already demonstrated evidence of his transfer market nous. By agreeing bargain deals for players like Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho from big clubs like Chelsea and Inter Milan, Rodgers has proven that he’s a smart cookie. Liverpool fans will be hoping for more of the same this summer.

He’s already brought in Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Rickie Lambert, all of whom will add something to this Liverpool side from an attacking perspective. But there’s still work to be done if The Reds are ever to properly replace Suarez.

This brings me to Liverpool’s continued interest in Real Sociedad’s wing-wizard, Antoine Griezmann (Source: The Mirror). I can’t help but feel that this Frenchman would be the perfect fit for Liverpool at this current stage in their evolution.

The 23-year-old has really started to rise to prominence over the last couple of seasons. Back in 2012/13, he scored 11 goals in 35 games. Last year he scored 20 goals from 49 games. These are excellent returns for midfielder, especially one playing for a mid-range La Liga club.

It’s also worth noting that Griezmann looked pretty handy for France during the World Cup this summer. He’s thus far made 8 appearances for his national side and has scored 3 goals. He’s clearly not shy in front of goal.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, he won’t come cheap. The aforementioned source suggests that Brendan Rodgers will have to shell out £23.7m to make a deal happen. That strikes me as a fair price for a player whose reputation continues to grow-and-grow.

Again, he’s not a direct replacement for Luis Suarez, but he is someone who’s good enough to ease The Reds into a new era – one where they’re not reliant on one individual to carry a team.

What’s your take? Is Antoine Griezmann the perfect choice for Liverpool?

    please get some defense!

  • Ian says:

We definitely need more players like him. we need a bigger spread of goals to make up for losing Suarez, but well not get that playing players that don’t score. None scoring dead wood need shipping out and replacing with players who can.

  • John says:

£23.7m for Griezmann is a steal if we paid £20m for Markovic!

    • Abd Hamid says:

      And 25 million for Lallana.

      • DiskoBiskit54 says:

What a waste of 25mil for Lallana.

What will his role in the team be in an already packed midfield, especially with young talented players like Sterling and Ibe coming throug and ready for the first team.

25mil for an average player : Massive waste of money and is typical of Liverpool signings of years gone by…

        • CB says:

Agree. So far Lallana looks the odd man out on this Liverpool team. We could have gotten Isco for this kind of money. Now we’re trying to sign and where will he play? I’d trade them all for Reus anyway…

  • Raul says:

I just hope that Liverpool don’t end up like Tottenham hot spurs buying players that take forever jelling and getting battered by all the top clubs ending up by just about making Europe or even lower like UNITED lol

  • Sultan Dasuki says:

Get this dude and stop chasing Bony and shitty overrated english players

  • johnkamau says:

too bad lallan was bought, isco,di maria + griezmann or friminho could have been the best & only isco & di maria expected to cost more than what lallan costed only to bring what we have in our midfield, poor reds for another wastage of money

  • Franz says:

We have markovic, lallana, sterling, coutinho and 3 strikers who we expect to play in the final three.A defender is needed first

  • myers says:

ya,no need of buying another midfr now priority areas r st , lft back& ctr back

  • aidoo kofi de-graft says:

No!!! It is only James Rodriguez who can replace L.S and ensure continuity

  • Gideon bofoh says:

i agree with you liverpool luck lft back, central backand right back too.stop wasting the money to buy midfild only wat about the defenders that we luck most

  • AllMightyRed says:

The only players we’ve signed so far that i really rate are Can & Markovic but i trust BRs judgement & support all LFC players as long as their attitude is right! I still can’t believe Rakitic went to Barca for £16.2m, Iturbe to Roma for £17.4m & losing out on Sanchez was dissapointing as well. Imo we need players like those or Firmino, Pogba, Griezmann, Cuadrado & Reus to trully replace Suarez &/or take us to that next level. I pray we sign two of these before the transfer window shuts because next season will be far more difficult than last!!

  • DkD says:

so y all dis. Reus deservs de bst.. realli lik dis guy.. n mayb anoda centa bak plus left bak n we re set

  • Jaidev Burumdoyal says:

Nobody’s talking abt mignolet who stupidly swallowed 50 goals …we must buy another goalie,he’s just good for smaller teams but not liverpool,he doesn’t fit in those shoes.

  • casey says:

Yes everyone knows better. LFC tranfers are shite you all would do a better job. Every other team never misses on transfers and signs only players you deem marquee. Same comments on every blog. Blah blah blah

  • adrian says:

liverpool buy reus pleas and the title is ours!

    • Sherwin says:
