Could Arsenal end up making a massive profit on this £3.3m transfer target?

Carlos VelaArsenal’s midfield is fairly congested, but I’m sure Arsene Wenger could be tempted to swoop for a talented winger this summer. After all, Gervinho was never properly replaced, Lukas Podolski is inconsistent (he was completely anonymous in the FA Cup Final) and Theo Walcott may take some time to recover from his long-term injury next season.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Arsenal are interested in bringing one of their former charges back to The Emirates. The player in question is Real Sociedad’s wing-wizard Carlos Vela.

The Mexican International (35 caps) has a buy-back clause written into his Real Sociedad contract that could make him available to The Gunners for just £3.3m. This kind of fee would represent a genuine bargain for a player who has scored 21 goals and provided 14 assists in 52 games this season. When did Carlos Vela get so effective?

The 25-year-0ld recently spoke to The Press suggesting that Arsenal ‘wouldn’t be very intelligent’ if they didn’t sign him up once again. I have to say, I think he has a point.

It does look like The Gunners would be foolish to neglect Carlos Vela. The Mexican ace has clearly come a long way since leaving The Emirates. Transfermarkt even claim that he’s currently worth £17.6m, if that counts for anything. That’s £14.4m more than Arsenal would have to pay for him.

Even if The Gunners buy him just to re-sell him at a later date, this looks like something of a no-brainer. But I think he’s now at the stage in his career where he’s ready to contribute in a meaningful way to this Arsenal team. Whilst this may not have been the case during his first stay with the club, things are different now.

He’ll arrive at the club with a new lease on life, bags more confidence and with proper goal-threat. He’ll arrive a better rounded footballer (hopefully not so reliant on the chipped finish he used to try nine times out of ten when he was first at Arsenal).

This is one case where bringing back and old player wouldn’t be a retrograde step for The Gunners. Make it happen Arsene!

What’s your take? Would you bring Carlos Vela back to his old haunting ground?

Carlos Vera is now a matured full player,he is no more a player of old. Do not hestitate in bringing him (gold fish) back to Emirate.

  • Prince Joe says:

Bring him back now with the token buy back clause, then use the fund for his purchase to acquire defensive midfielder. l want Wenger to surprise our rival next season especially Mr. Fool (Morinho) the specialist in talking, who always like using reckless language on other premier league managers. Now that the jinx of winning silverwares is over, next season is going to be arsenal/emirate year of successes.
