Credit is due to Jordan Henderson, for the speed he has developed this season. Since King Kenny signed him back in the summer of 2011, he’s been a scapegoat for all of Liverpool’s failures. He came with a huge price-tag (between £16-20m) and didn’t exactly offer an instant return on investment.
After catching the eye at Sunderland, he’s been slow to find his feet at Anfield. But now that he’s up and running he’s starting to provide proper value for this Liverpool team. In fact, ‘running’ is the key word here. I’m not sure there’s any player in the Premier League who makes more late runs into the box, or supports his strikers better than Jordan Henderson.
With Steven Gerrard also performing well, the Reds midfield has been buzzing this season. But the Liverpool skipper only has so much gas left in the tank. He’s 33-years-old now and may find himself contributing less and less over the coming years.
So how do Liverpool respond? Do they entrust their future to Henderson, who has shown so much promise this season?
I’m not sure that this is a gamble worth taking. Henderson still has a lot of developing to do and he may not ever be as good as Liverpool’s current captain. If Brendan Rodgers really does have a long-term plan for the club, I hope that getting a proper, top-quality replacement for Gerrard is next on his to-do list.
According to The Metro, Brendan Rodgers is interested in Southampton’s highly-regarded midfielder, Adam Lallana. The 25-year-old has already proven himself over the course of two Premier League seasons and is likely to be a key part of England’s World Cup squad.
He’s one of the most technically gifted players in the Premier League, he’s exciting to watch and he’s effective (he’s grabbed nine goals this season). He won’t come cheap (The Metro suggest that he might cost £25m), but he’d make for an extremely smart investment. With Lallana and Henderson in the squad, Liverpool fans could rest assured that the future of their midfield is safe.
What’s your take? Can Liverpool tempt Southampton into selling one of their best players?

U think we’re playing fantasy football or football manager? What are u smoking? selling coutinho and our youngsters?
Woah, slow down there! We already have a thin bench and you just made it thinner! Also why buy lallana and Isco for 60 mil when one of them will be warmer the bench? No what we really need is someone to compete with coutinho and someone to compete with sturridge. We don’t have to sell to buy anymore so this is what I see happening in the summer.
