Arsenal’s £100 transfer war-chest: are these THREE stars the right targets?

|

Diego CostaWith Arsenal’s season falling apart in the business end of the season (once again), fans will be calling for Arsene Wenger to show some ambition in the summer transfer window. They’ve come so close this season and if they had a better rounded squad, may have been genuine contenders for the Premier League title.

If The Metro are to be believed, Arsenal are set to show plenty of ambition this summer. They claim that the club’s owner, Stan Kroenke, is willing to offer Arsene Wenger £100m to help build a team that’s capable of winning silverware.

That’s interesting in and of itself, but it’ll be more interesting to see how The Professor opts to spend this money.

According to the aforementioned source, he has lined up three potential targets and they’re all exciting ones. The players in question are Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa, Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic and Schalke’s talented young midfielder, Juan Draxler. See what I mean about ambition?

Arsenal’s main problem this season has stemmed from their lack of options upfront. As such, it’s great to see Arsene Wenger doubling down. Mandzukic and Costa are both world-class options who have excelled for their clubs this season. In fact, between them they’ve already scored 56 goals this season.

Together, they’d seriously improve Arsenal’s firepower. Of course, neither of them would come cheap. Yet with Robert Lewandowski about to arrive at Bayern Munich, there should be a deal to be done here.

This brings me to Julian Draxler. The Gunners have been interested in the 20-year-old German attacking midfielder since last summer. He’s extraordinarily talented, has bags of attacking ability and an incredible amount of potential. His career is really going places and his arrival at The Emirates could spark the same levels of belief that Mesut Ozil’s did last summer.

His current club, Schalke 04, wont want to sell, but if Arsenal really do have a £100m transfer kitty to hand, they’re capable of being persuasive.

With these additions to the squad, The Gunners would be a much stronger side. They may even begin to give the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City a run for their money (and Liverpool, apparently).

What’s your take? Which of these three would you like Arsenal to sign? Can Arsene Wenger pull off deals for all of them?
