Could this £39m double-deal be just what Manchester United need?

Kevin StrootmanHaving just spent £37m on Juan Mata, it seems a little strange to suggest that Manchester United need to further strengthen their midfield. But this club has got themselves into a real stink. It may take further reinforcements in this area in order for David Moyes to start turning things around.

In fact, The Star claim that Manchester United are ready and willing to shell out £39m on two new midfielders when the summer transfer window re-opens. That’s still a long way off, but it’s interesting to see that the papers still think that these kind of deals are necessary.

The two players in question are Roma midfielder, Kevin Strootman who is valued at ‘over £30m’ and PSV midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, who has a £9m price-tag.

Kevin Strootman is clearly the big fish here. Having impressed for a couple of seasons with PSV, the Dutch ace earned a summer move to Roma. He’s since played 15 games and found the back of the net 4 times.

As a Dutch footballer, the 23-year-old has got plenty of technical ability, can move the ball about nicely and make things happen in the final third. But he’s also renowned for his physique, tough tackling and strength on the ball. This has seen him draw comparisons to Roy Keane. Wouldn’t it be something if the Red Devils had their own answer to Manchester City’s Yaya Toure?

Wijnaldum has a smaller price-tag, but still provides plenty of reasons for fans to get excited. For a start, he’s usually deployed further up the pitch than Strootman, where he gets to use all of his play-making abilities.

Last season Wijnaldum scored 20 goals and notched 8 assists in 45 games. What’s more, at just 23-years-old, he’s already been named captain of PSV. He’s developing fast, has proven to be effective at this level and may have what it takes to improve this Manchester United side.

Both players would certainly be a step up on the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley. £39m is a lot of money, but these two are sure to have a massive impact at Old Trafford. If they help David Moyes to turn things around, they’ll have proved worthy of their respective price-tags.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United snap up these two young midfield talents?

Why not, gundogan, who is father calling united to for him, what kroos, valera, even rues, all this are all what we need&not chewing gum players, let Moyes spend good on players so that they can be realise from their various clubs, moyes should learn how to study where the team problem lies before&stop buying a kind of players we had in the team, like mata,a player who was siting on bench from the rival club, who is underplayer, though he’s a good player, but, that’s not what united need.
