Could this little Brazilian ace kick-start Tottenham’s season?

Bernard durante entrevista coletiva do Atlético-MGTim Sherwood has already begun to turn things around on the pitch at Spurs, but if he’s really to improve the situation at White Hart Lane, he’ll need to get to work in the January transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, three players that former head coach, Andre Villas-Boas signed during the summer, ex-Roma ace Erik Lamela, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli could all be on their way out of the club. The three of them have struggled to make their mark this season and could be sent packing to help fund moves for new recruits.

The fact that Spurs splashed £30m on Lamela during the summer is pretty egregious. It’s not clear that Tottenham would be able to recoup all their money, were they to sell him on. Perhaps Daniel Levy and Tim Sherwood will simply opt to cut their losses in this case.

On the other hand, if either Etienne Capoue, or Nacer Chadli were to move on, I’m sure it wouldn’t result in too many raised eyebrows. Still, it would help if Tim Sherwood brought somebody in to help offset these high-profile exits and prevent the media from focusing on a ‘mass Tottenham exodus’, or putting any other kind of spin on the situation.

This brings me to the rumours concerning Shakhtar Donetsk play-maker, Bernard. According to The Metro, Tim Sherwood and co. are attempting to wrap up a loan-deal that would see him move to White Hart Lane until the end of the season. They suggest that Spurs are ‘going all out’ to try and get his club to agree terms.

Any such deal would be difficult to negotiate. Shakhtar spent £20m on the 21-year-old during the summer and must be keen to get a decent return on their investment. Sure, he’s struggled to fit in at his new club, but he deserves some time to adapt and the club may well grant him this (one wonders if Spurs will be so kind when it comes to their new recruits).

Still, with the player desperate for game-time in the run up to the World Cup, a temporary deal could be the solution. A move to Spurs could help the player to find his feet once more and that in and of itself, may provide Shakhtar with some motivation to put pen to paper.

The little Brazilian himself has lots of potential. Wouldn’t it be something if he were to realise it at White Hart Lane and help lift this Spurs side out of their slumber?

What’s your take? Should Tottenham snap up this 5’5″ playmaker on loan for the rest of the season?

will be a good move by Spurs to get him on loan.
Firstly this guy got potential skills.
He can take on opponens with his pacy wing attacking skills. Fit in well with Spurs type attacking play. Still young, can become even better.
Loan move is a good move.
