Could Manchester United be about to lose Shinji Kagawa?

Shinji KagawaIt was always going to come to this. If you hold somebody back for long enough, they’ll always strike back. No matter how mild mannered the individual, if their career is at stake, they’ll take action.

On the face of things, Shinji Kagawa looks like a happy, motivated and forthright individual. Underneath, however, he’s clearly frustrated with his current situation at Manchester United.

And now, according to The Mirror, Shinji Kagawa is ready and willing to ‘quit’ Manchester United in search of some regular first team football. Some may shrug their shoulders at this news, but I can’t help but feel disappointed.

It’s worth remembering: Sir Alex Ferguson spent £17m on Kagawa in June 2012. That’s was a little over a year ago. Since then, Manchester United haven’t sought to get a proper return on their investment. Heck, David Moyes doesn’t even seem to be trying.

Moyes brought in Marouane Fellaini over the summer, who usually finds his way onto the team sheet. Then there’s youngster Adnan Januzaj, who has been making waves recently and is now a regular fixture in this first team.

But I find it hard to believe that somebody as talented as Shinji Kagawa couldn’t climb above them in the pecking order, should he be given a proper shot.

Kagawa was in the Bundesliga’s Team of the Season two years in a row during his time at Borussia Dortmund. During his time in Germany, he won the title twice. He also scored goals for fun. In 2010/11 he scored 12 goals in 28 performances. In 2011/12 he scored 17 goals in 43 appearances.

The Japanese International carries genuine threat from the midfield, but United have never quite been able to utilize it.

He’s made 31 appearances for United scoring just 6 goals (all of them came last season).

It’s claimed that Kagawa is concerned that his lack of action this season will lead to him missing out on a spot in the Japan team for next summer’s World Cup.

If this is true, I can’t help but hope that it triggers a reaction from David Moyes. It’s time to give him a proper run of games. Let’s see what he can do when he’s got his managers backing and the fans behind him.

I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United give up on Shinji Kagawa?

I don’t know how kagawa will feel or how possible its gonna be, but I think we should drop him to central mid-field and pair him with carrick.

Not at all, shinji is a talented playr bt d managr sms 2 lack faith in hs abilities, moyes plis gv hm a chance lk januzaj

I share your admiration of him as a player but the simple fact remains that in general when given a chance this season he simply hasn’t played well enough or made himself un droppable. I can understand his frustration to an extent but am dissapointed in his attitude if indeed he wants to quit as he hasn’t come into the team and played well like Janusaj has who has grabbed his chance with both hands

Stupid moyes!how can a coach not test player before dropping him.I think what people doesn’t notice is the fact that RVP is the problem because if not for his arrival rooney would have play upfrond and kagawa at his back
