Wesley SneijderNot so long ago, Manchester United were very heavily linked to Dutch star, Wesley Sneijder.

That was back when the crafty midfielder was busy breaking Inter Milan’s wage structure. The Serie A club were keen to get rid of him and Sir Alex Ferguson was on the list of potential suitors. In the end, however, he ended up at Turkish League side, Galatasaray.

The move was a rather odd one. He only cost Galatasaray £8.5m, but the Turkish Champions did have to cover his (huge) wages.

At the time, more than a few Manchester United fans were disappointed that their club hadn’t swooped in and plucked him up. Sneijder looked like the perfect solution to Manchester United’s creativity problem.

And to be honest, he still does. Time has marched on, but very little has changed. Manchester United still need a player who can provide them with a little more cut-and-thrust, somebody who can play killer balls and split defenses.

As things currently stand, Manchester United just aren’t forceful enough going forward. Bringing in somebody experienced and talented would be a big step forward.

Unfortunately for David Moyes, Galatasaray aren’t all that keen on selling, not just yet any way. Speaking recently, the club’s president, Unal Aysal told the Press:

“We don’t have a decision or a desire to sell Sneijder. Mancini has not had enough time to find out about the squad. He doesn’t want us to transfer somebody.”

“Sneijder has a temporary problem, I don’t care about it. He is going to regain his form with us.” (Source: The Star)

It seems that Fergie’s old rival, Roberto Mancini is still looking to scupper Manchester United. You’ll also have noted the questions regarding his form.

Since moving to Turkey, Sneijder has made 23 appearances for his new club. Whilst he’s done a fine job, scoring 5 goals in the process, there’s still the feeling that he could be offering more. Some have questioned whether he’s motivated to play in a League that lacks competition.

Whilst big wages have had their appeal in the past, I can’t help but wonder if he’d be intrigued by the chance to join another top team (a team like Manchester United).

Galatasaray would take some persuading, but Sneijder is exactly the kind of signing that United should be making if they want to improve. Let’s see if David Moyes can finally bring in the creative talent that the club needs.

What’s your take? Is Wesley Sneijder the right fit for Manchester United?

Moyes, I dont think their is genuine reason why you should go for a player that rejected us becuase of money he demand from Man United as of then when Ferguson pleaded him to come on a particular amount fee he ignore it and went to lnter- Milan due to so love of material things of the world, why Remy Cabella and Barkely is what United needs and not that old stuff please oga Davids.
