Adem LjajicAt just 21-years-old, Serbian forward Adem Llajic has already been a presence in the transfer market for quite some time. Back in 2010, when the sprightly young fellow was at Partizan, he looked set to move to Manchester United, but a deal fell through.

Instead, he ended up moving to Fiorentina in an 8m euro move. That’s quite a fee for a player his age, but he has earned his price-tag through hard-work, craft and bucket-loads of technical ability. At the time he was widely-regarded as one of the most exciting young players in Europe.

Whilst his star hasn’t exactly fallen over the last two-or-three years, I think it’s fair to say that he’s been eclipsed by some bigger names and has fallen under the radar somewhat. But he remains a fantastic talent who deserves a shot at a big club.

Speaking of which, according to The Mirror, both Tottenham and Liverpool are weighing up bids for the Serbian, whilst The Express suggest that he could be on his way to Roma. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that there’s a fair amount of buzz around the player.

Fiorentina’s owner, Andre Della Valle has already told the Press that he expects his young charge to leave the club this summer. The player has failed to agree new terms with his current club and it’s looking as though the Tuscan side would sooner sell now than risk losing him for free in the future.

Della Valle seems fairly resigned to losing the player: “In the coming days he will almost certainly leave Florence. Not selling to Milan? Never say never.”

He’s willing to sell to another Serie A club, but I’m sure that Fiorentina would sooner send Ljalic abroad. I can’t help but feel that he’d be a good fit for a club like Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has been shopping for bargains this summer and with Ljalic available for approximately £7.5m, he’d certainly fall into that category. But with his craft, ingenuity and passing range, he’d be able to make an instant impact in the Premier League. He’d certainly be a step up on the likes of Stewart Downing.

But Brendan will have to act fast. With Roma looking to tie up a deal for the midfielder, it’s upto the Reds to try and scupper their chances. Let’s see if Rodgers can make it happen.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool move in for Adem Ljajic, or leave him to the competition?
