The 5 Signings Arsenal Should Make Before The Deadline

Wenger has recently said he doesn’t want to panic buy.  In all fairness to the Frenchman he is probably correct to not just jump in and buy anyone but you certainly cannot defend his lack of assertiveness in the market during the summer. The London side need some key pieces to build on but the transfers never materialized.

The club needs a mix of short term and long term signings to push them back into the mix for the top four. Wenger is a manager that looks at his side and struggles at times to see the need to have players that can give him options.  He is a very loyal manager that wants to stick by his players but this season he has a good opportunity to pick up a handful of players that will complement the current squad without squandering millions.

Here are five players that could change the gunners outlook this season without spending over the odds ( well maybe not the last one).

Julio Cesar

The QPR goalie is the perfect fit the Arsenal. He would bring them a short term solution to the current goalie issue at the club. It isn’t that Szczesny is a bad goalie, but he needs time to become that really good goalkeeper that they need. Cesar will bring his experience and who knows perhaps at Arsenal, Cesar could have a rebirth of his career just like Edwin van der Sar did when he moved to Man U.

Martin Skrtel

The Liverpool defender has already been linked to moves away from Anfield and the chance to play Champions League football again would be a draw for the player. The EPL veteran would bring some needed stability to the Arsenal back line. Perhaps the only downside of Wenger would be the price tag, after Napoli already had a 10M bid rejects.

Yohan Cabaye Wenger should have probably tried to get in on the Wanyama sweepstakes earlier but Cabaye would a very good option. The player would give Arsenal a real box to box player who has terrific vision. His ability to create opportunities would give the London club a goal scoring midfielder that they haven’t had since Cesc moved to Barcelona Keisuke Honda. The Japanese play maker would be a perfect option for Wenger and Arsenal.

He can play in an attaching role either in midfield or up front as a 2^nd striker. He also comes to the table with ridiculous dead ball ability. Honda would give them options that they don’t have today. He would be the perfect player to come off the bench and light up the park. It’s also money well spent as he is worshiped in Japan, and his shirt sales alone would probably cover the cost of his transfer. Jackson Martienz Giroud and Poldoski have done decent for the Gunners since signing but Arsenal need to replace that out and out striker they had with RVP.

With the Columbia striker they get a man who will score lots of goals for them. He is easily a 20-25 goals per season player.  If Wenger really wants to compete, this is perhaps the one move on the list he HAS to make. It won’t be a cheap pick up but he will be value for money when you here some of the fees being banded around this summer.
