There is a lot of pressure on the new man in charge at Manchester United to break open the war chest and spend, after the club missed out on early targets Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas. However no matter what anyone says, Manchester United are the current champions. The team was clearly good enough to win the league last season and based on that should be able to compete again for the trophy without any real investment being made on the side.
Paul Scholes was the only real departure this summer but this wasn’t the Scholes of 10 years ago. His role by the end of last season was far more subdued. The squad is very strong; perhaps not the strongest on paper at the start of the season but games are not won on paper. What Manchester United has that many of the other contending sides do not, is a strong team spirit. This has been seen for years at the club, they have the ability to stick together and grind out results. Rivals Manchester City and Chelsea have a lot more quality within the squads but they also have a lot more baggage.
For David Moyes he needs this season to start looking at the building blocks needed to take over from Sir Alex. The manager will know that this is still Fergie’s side and for him to gain the plaudits from the fans and media he needs to start moving that rebuild forward.
Manchester United need to look for a complete reboot of the back line. The quality is there today but there is a question mark over age and health. This season they can get by, but changes need to happen. Leighton Baines would be a terrific replacement for Evra, but Moyes doesn’t need to force that through this season. The club will perform as well as ever with the French fullback. This season will give Moyes the opportunity to really see if Jones and Smalling are the men to build around on the back line.
I think moyes needs a world class attacking midfieler , modric and a left winger . Robben beca he has champ league exp nd can score a lot of goals . Kawaga not suited to the english league , was a mistake buy … Fergie should of not bench rooney.. Then the summer window wudnt be the roo saga frm start till now. Fergie messed the rooney situation up ,ashley young anderson valencia kawaga . Money should of been used to buy bale . Moyes not goner attract any world 11 players to come in to man utd . Just look at the current transfer activities . All talk but then we got ED deadwood doing our ransfer business. Spurs have the best football director in league at the moment ..Moyes doomed nd will not win a trophy this year .any top european manager shud of already seen the weakness in our milfield .
