Which of these FIVE Liverpool transfer targets are you most excited about?

Christian-Atsu_12betMore so than anybody else, Liverpool have taken to the summer transfer market with gay aplomb. Like a kid at a Pick-‘N’-Mix dispenser, Brendan Rodgers has been gleefully roaming around the European Leagues selecting players within the Reds’ budget and increasing levels of excitement among fans.

This approach has surely been triggered by the disappointment of last season. I’m not sure what Brendan Rodgers was expecting when he arrived at Anfield, but he must surely have desired to finish higher than seventh place.

But a lack of threat upfront and a soft-centre often saw the Reds throwing away valuable points and it was clear that Liverpool couldn’t keep up with those competing for Champions League slots.

All the activity this summer must be an effort to right this wrong. It looks like Brendan Rodgers is ready to come back stronger next season.

A lot of this spending will be bank-rolled by one of King Kenny’s flops, Andy Carroll. West Ham confirmed last Tuesday that they had wrapped up a deal for the Liverpool forward that could be worth up to £17.5m. This money is likely to be re-reimbursed into the transfer market.

According to The Mirror, deals for Aspas and Mignolet could be completed within a few days (perhaps even by the time this article goes live!) More exciting still, three more players could be on their way in.

These men are Armenian goal-poacher Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Portuguese winger Christian Atsu and Sevilla starlet Luis Alberto. Each of them will offer something to this Liverpool side and will help to round out the squad.

Christian Atsu is a left-winger known for his pace and technique. His quick feet will make him an effective option down the flanks, an area where Liverpool lack strength. Luis Alberto, at just 20-years-old, is a really hot prospect. The Sevilla striker spent last season out on loan with the Barcelona B side and smashed home 11 goals. He has an excellent scoring record in Reserve sides and Liverpool will hope he’s capable of making the step up.

Then there’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who looks like the main draw for Liverpool. Whilst he’s not really a marquee name, his statistics more-or-less speak for him. Last season he scored 25 goals in 39 games (from the midfield), so I’m going to go ahead and (lazily) label him the Armenian Frank Lampard. He could be a real asset for Liverpool should they spend big and get their man.

One thing’s for sure. The fact that Brendan Rodgers is striking quickly and effectively can only bode well for the future of Liverpool Football Club.

What’s your take? Which Liverpool signing are you most looking forward to?

Good transfer busness on all fronts for lfc bt we shuld hold on to our most important singning which is suarez and we shuld nt be pressured to sell like we did wht torres if we can do that then our future luks bright lfc fr life ynwa

  • carlton says:

that armenian machine henrikh mkhitaryan is most appealing to me although a left winger as well wont do no harm seeing that we need one….im very optimistic about our chances next season…

  • Darren says:

If Suarez goes, I think Kiessling would be a perfect replacement, with our style of play, when Luis’ been banned.
Fox in the box is needed.

  • Dan says:

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a must.let squares go and bring in eriksen and soldado.I’m assuming a center back is being lined up.YNWA

  • ken says:

if we let suarez go we are a mid table team and are future is mid table, teams who want top four dont let players go until they need them to go if we keep suarez and he helps get top four the extra money it will bring will cover any money we could get by selling him

  • lawrence Akoji says:

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN IS A GOOD PLAYER BRENDAN RODJERS SHOULD SIGN HIM AT ANY COST AND ANOTHER WORLD CLASS DEFFENDER AND HE SHOULD KEEP DANIEL AGGER

  • Tony Davies says:

If we do sell Suarez which I hope we don’t ,I like Christian benteke and Jeremy menez and a good central defender, and a better left back then we should be close to the top 4 were we belong.

  • Domnic says:

The signings and players linked to liverpool are good and i wnt Rodgers 2 sign a good defender. If Suarez goes i tink d perfect replacement 4 him will be christian Benteke because he has the agility to take on oppossing defenders, just look at what he did to us last season, that guy is good and i will like to see him at anfield

  • Yaw Asante says:

First of all Atsu is a Ghanaian not Portuguese and he will be of great help on the flanks. Henrik will be exciting as well. with Mignolet in the post, I will be more relaxed than Pepe. I’m very happy with Luis’ deal and I hope his name’s sake stays but if he does leave, Benteke or Jackson Martinez will be a fantastic replacement for him…..YNWA!!!!!!

Lfc has been a better club in d transfer market so far but lfc need to sign atsu, henrikh nd a good experience top class centre defender to erase the mistake lfc suffered from corner kick nd keep suarez to make a place in d cl.

I want nani and mkhiyartan and gkp

  • Tommo says:

What lazy writing it’s dated and inaccurate and the comments are worse. Menez no thanks, Martinez a player we could of signed for 7m 12 months ago who would cost over 30m. IMO Jovetic would be a great replacement for saurez who should be sold as he’s nothing but trouble, a great player but to miss 18 games in 2 seasons through suspension is a joke and not the Liverpool way. YNWA
