Nicolas GaitanSurprisingly enough, Sir Alex’s retirement has failed to slow the ever-spinning rumour-mill. Day-after-day, the papers and online media churn out one questionable rumour after another. David Moyes has barely had time to accustom himself to the fact that he’s going to be the new Manchester United boss and already he’s been linked to all and sundry.

The papers may not have their priorities right, but it does leave us fans with plenty to talk about.

The general consensus among fans and pundits alike is that Manchester United need to sign another high-quality midfielder. Somebody who can step into the void left by Paul Scholes and provide assistance to the likes of Michael Carrick, Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley.

This, I think, will be central to United’s chances of success this season.

Even without want-away forward Wayne Rooney, United have a masterful front-line.

Robin Van Persie is one of the world’s best footballers and extremely clinical in front of goal. Then there’s the likes of Javier Hernandez, who probably deserves more opportunities in the first team and Danny Welbeck, who has a lot more to offer.

If these forwards receive good service, they will score goals and many of them.

It’s up to Moyes, then, to put his side in with a good chance to defending their Champion-status next season. But who should he be looking at?

I’m particularly intrigued by United’s links to Nicolas Gaitan. The Express claim that United have been hot on the trail of the Argentinian ace for a while now and may make their move this summer. This would be an excellent move by the club.

Gaitan is a left-footed attacking midfielder who oozes technique, flair and style. He’s a flair player who looks extremely confident on the ball, can run at defenders, work space and get in dangerous areas.

But whilst many South American footballers aren’t cut out for the rigours of the Premier League, Gaitan looks like a good fit. For a start, he’s physically strong, and isn’t afraid to use his upper body strength when he’s in possession. He’s also a fantastic crosser of the ball (11 assists this year, 15 last season).

The Express suggest that the Benfica star may be available for £17m. That’s a lot of money, but it would be a good investment by David Moyes. Gaitan has talent to burn and would be sure to make a splash at the top level.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United continue to chase Nicolas Gaitan?

Gaitan is a good player toy go for, but I prefer wanyama at Celtic for MUFC, even strootman is good will be well fit into the team

If you ever watch a game against the better sides in Portugal, this player looks mediocre. He is not at all what we need – if we need someone. He is not a winger allthou leftfooted, so the all comments about him replacing Giggs, who admittedly has played more of a central role at late, Gaitan does not storm down the wing for a cross like Giggs. They are completely different players – even if you pick whatever era of Giggs time in football

Of course he is a fantastic player and moyes should sign him

I think he will be fit for start since he has the ability to link up with other good player like at benfica he players the ball alot with salvio, petric and cardozo and if he does play the attacking with rvp, kagawa and carrick i think we shall even become the best team in europe.
