This world-class footballer would cost Liverpool a total of £11m: a GENUINE bargain

|

With Liverpool’s Nuri Sahin experiment now classified as a failure and the Turkish midfielder now off to join old club Borussia Dortmund on loan, the Reds may be on the look-out for another midfielder to add a little dynamism to their midfield.

With Steven Gerrard growing long in the tooth, and Joe Allen still developing, I’d say that the Reds could use a little helping hand in the area.

But who can they bring in, that is:

a)     Good enough to improve this Liverpool side.

b)     Affordable?

The Reds are a little strapped for cash at the moment and Liverpool’s top brass will be desperately trying to avoid making any foolish signings this January. Daniel Sturridgewas an excellent first addition, but I believe Liverpool’s most important January transfer is yet to come.

Wesley Sneijder’s future has been up in the air for a long time now. With his wage demands as they are, Inter Milan seem to want nothing to do with him and look to be willing to sell him to just about anything.

Galatasaray have already had a bid accepted for the technically gifted Dutch midfielder, but are yet to agree personal terms with Sneijder. Something tells me Wesley didn’t intend to end up playing his football in the Turkish League at such a young age. Despite his unwillingness to take a pay-cut at Inter, there still seems to be ambition in Sneijder and this must be why a move to Galatasaray has yet to be finalized.

According to the Turkish club’s president, Unal Aysal, the deal they’ve agreed for Sneijder is something of a bargain: If the deal collapses, we have alternatives. The figures quoted in the media are wrong. Our deal with Inter is worth €7.5 million (£6.3 million).” (Source: ESPN).

That’s not a bad price for one of the best players in the Dutch International team. Yes, his time on the bench at Inter may have wiped the sheen off an incredible career (thus far), but you’d have to be a fool to write him off.

Aysal continues: “Our offer for his wages is below €5.5 million.” Should Sneijder be willing to accept that offer, he’d cost Galatasaray a total of €13m. That’s just under £11m – less than it cost to sign-up young British hopeful, Daniel Sturridge.

Whilst there have been concerns over Sneijder’s wages, I’d say as a package, he’s something of a bargain considering what he can offer a club.

With that in mind, I’d love to see Liverpool rival Galatasaray for Sneijder’s signature. I believe is may be just the kick up the arse that the club needs.

What’s your take? Can Liverpool afford to be in the market for Wesley Sneijder?

    What are you talking about? The figure of €5.5m for wages is TAX PAID PER YEAR! Liverpool would need to pay double that for him to have a take home pay of €5.5m p a !

  • Clive says:

    I would love to see LFC to sign him.
    He has everything and he’s a bargain at
    that price.
    We also need a defensive midfielder and
    a keeper. Two names that come to mind
    is Begovic and Yann’Villa.

    Wreaks a little Joe Cole on big wages and club not playing him.
    Is twice the player Joe was but still would not take the punt let him go to Turkey.

  • Jan Hansen says:

    Come on folkes,

    Lets go for whatever might be, for the benefit, of our club, LFC, that since the selling of Alonso, as Torres said it would all, by broken promises, went fast downhill, with owners and managers never to admit their mistakes, that some players may be more clever, and experienced, by their inside knowledge, so to me,

    Buy Sneijder immidiatly, and get rid to offlaod the failures, that LFC is the biggest football club, in the world, and not a beach holiday club, with bad commitment…

    I go further, not to feel sick, or painfull, of what bad leadership have done to LFC, by letting go

    Hyypia, Riise, Alonso, Sissoko, Meireles, Aquilani,Benayoun, Crouch Torres, Kuyt, – Carroll, and Morgan on loan, to handle it by these transitions;

    Sell;
    Reina, Doni – Flanagan,Skrtel,Enrique – Lucas, Allen, Spearing – Assaidi, Downing – Borini, and

    Hand Jamie Carragher the reserve team job…

    Buy;
    Butland – M. Richards – Milner, Sneijder – Torres, even Alonso, taking Wilson, Carroll, and Morgan home, to have this 25 man squad, with age, and playing ranks, by International Cap status;

    Butland(19) England A
    Jones(30) Australia A
    Gulacsi(22) Hungary U – 21

    Johnson(28) England A
    Wisdom(19) England U – 21
    Kelly(22) England A
    Coatez(22) Uruguay A
    Agger(28) Denmark A
    Richards(24) England A
    Wilson(20) Scotland U – 21
    Robinson(20) England U – 21

    Milner(27) England A
    Jordan(22) England A
    Gerrard(32) England A
    Jonjo(20) England A
    Alonso(30) Spain A
    Sneijder(28) Holland A
    Sturridge(23) England A
    Suso(19) Spain U – 21

    Suarez(25) Uruguay A
    Sterling(18) England U – 21
    Pacheco(21) Spain U – 21
    Torres(28) Spain A
    Carroll(24) England A
    Morgan(18) England U – 21

    I am not talking about statistics, or how many passes,sending over the byline, but…

    I am talking about an old horse, on a cupids train, to smell football commitment, and it smells of that Liverpool FC is a Football club, of Majestic Support, play and titles, by a familiar scousered attitude, given birth by 15.000 custumers named THE KOP!!

    I Sheed a little tear!!

    I remember Gary McAllister, now – What about…

    Frank Lampard, normally West Ham, played more than 75 caps with Captain Marvel Steven Gerrard, if possible I would by him –

    Come on – your, Lady Majestic, Jamie Carraghers longest relationship, since supporting Everton, as a kid;

    Give us an exibition to remember, by winning the title, before Steven Gerrard retire, to save a lot of Scousers, and heartbroken supporters, once more than a million in the entire world, by my last resort – like

    Liverpool FC;
    King Kenny dont walks on water, he, like LFC…

    still does!!

    I AM NEAR THE END OF A STEVEN GERRARD, CD SINGLE –

    1 – STEVEN GERRARD – THE GREATEST IN THE WORLD
    2 – AMAZED BY YOU

    I WANT TO ANNOUNCE, AND SELL IT, ON THE 4TH OF MAY 2013, AGAINST EVERTON, SOMEONE – HELP ME…

    lol, looks like some serious scandi speed there my blonde friend. As for the article, we can only hope he would prefer to take a wage cut and play in a proper league for a top club but the very most we would offer is 120 and thats way less than he is on

  • Mojo says:

    I will not comment who LFC should sell but I do know that LFC need high quality players in the mould of Begovic, Kaka (too bad Sneider gone to Gala), Hummel/Subotic, Milner/Hamsik
