Why giving Rangers’ 2005 League title to Celtic would be a travesty of justice:

Rangers are the world’s most successful club. If you don’t believe me, check out the Guinness Book of Records. They have won more trophies – 115 in total, including 54 national league titles – than any other club in the world. This has always stuck in our rivals throats and the attempt to strip Rangers of these titles is a cheap attempt to rewrite history. The basis for this is the use of the EBT tax scheme. Rangers have declared these payments to the SFA every year, yet all of a sudden it is being seen as a dual contract. But alas the Scottish game is never clear and simple and tribal loyalties run deep.

If Rangers were to be stripped of the 2005 league title who will it be given to? It will be given to Celtic; a team that at that time were operating the EBT tax scheme. How is this justice? Celtic has so far refused to confirm if the EBT used for the Brazilian Juninho was paid within one contract or as a dual.

Why is no one asking questions of Celtic? Celtic is now in control of the Scottish game and has no fear of retaliation for their use of the dual contracts if proved. Timing as they say is everything. What kind of message does this send out? It is either against the rules to use the EBT scheme or it is not. The fact that Celtic weren’t good enough to win the title in the season that they used the EBT funded Juninho is if anything proof that using EBTs does not give clubs a sporting advantage.

With the inquiry into Rangers use of EBTs about to begin this week most Rangers supports don’t hold out any hopes of getting a fair hearing. The SFA and SPL are corrupt and are smarting that Rangers exploits in the third division attract more television viewers and fans through the turnstiles than the tired and pointless SPL.

If punishment is to be dealt out then it must be dealt out fairly. Celtic fans for years claimed that the SFA was corrupt and biased in favour of Rangers, now it seems that nothing has changed, only that the rider has merely jumped horses and now favours Celtic.

What an utter load of rubbish, stopped reading after the second paragraph. It is this uneducated opinion and complete and utter belief in everything your “so called” leadership tells you that got your once great club into this mess in the first place. The first step on your recovery will never be achieved unless you discover a little thing called acceptance!

  • Wake up your club is dead and wrong says:

What garbage of an article, well the spl investigated the ebts as Celtic admitted to it and paid back and they found it was within the rules. Now your former club is seen as to of broke the rules hence the call for justice(from all in football not just Celtic, for this is the biggest scam in history as match fixing is only seen as worse). I find it funny, well sad really, how you can’t understand how good business is done (Celtic) and how bad business is done (rangers). For you think because your club has cheated that all other clubs have and that Celtic is just as bad cause they had 1 guy on it compared to your 50+ players/managers, I guess your legends messed you up so bad that it hurts to even think about it and see common sense for the facts are out there.
Thanks for at least admitting that the so called “Celtic paranoia” was right all along (after years of helping yous they can’t let you cheat any further so you say they jump ship and now Celtic run them, we would never do that for we are here to help Scottish football and not bring it down and holding it back like the dead club has for years, and remember the refs that came out going against celtic?) Sounds to me all the hate and bile is coming out of your end cause your own thinking will not change for it seems you are a new club with bad old habits, we just want justice for there have been no punishment yet and then everyone will leave your little div3 club alone to play with themselves for we just want it done with. We need all corruption out and should have new ppl at spl/sfa as well fix the refs for Scottish football need positive moves and not act like it has in the past.

This article is written by someone who simply does not understand the issues nor has a clue about Celtic.

Rangers are the biggest cheats in the history of Scottish sport and the dead club that was Rangers will be stripped of titles – that is inevitable.

What this has to do with Phoenix Franchise The Rangers I have no idea. Mr Green whilst hugely entertaining is becoming just a tad tiresome. Yawn.

Imagine if an AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd or Liverpool supporter read that first sentence.

They would laugh there ass off.

Go search and have a look at the honours list for them clubs and then compare them to Rangers honours list, if any football fan in the world thought that the Rangers list is more successful then they clearly are delusional.

Oh Cybertheodore thank you! You restore my faith in the internets bampottery reputation. Just when it seems that all serious news and worthy journalism is coming via internet sources, along you come with half-baked, babbling nonsense based on complete misunderstanding of facts and torched to smokey completion with a venom fuelled blowtorch.

I salute you sir! Keep up the good work. If the internet isn’t for idiots to spout rubbish then we’re all doomed.

FOR THE KNUCKLEDRAGGERS WHO LIVE IN DENIAL

Celtic have been cleared by football authorities of breaching rules through using an offshore tax avoidance scheme to pay a player.

The Glasgow club responded to a request from the Scottish Premier League for information on whether they, or any other club, had used employee benefit trusts (EBTs) to pay wages.

This came after the SPL launched an investigation into the widespread use of EBTs at Rangers to pay players between 2000 and 2010. An independent commission is considering whether the Ibrox club had fielded ineligible players by paying them through the trusts.

Celtic are believed to have used the trust to make payments to Brazilian midfielder Juninho in 2005.

The scheme is listed in the club’s annual accounts for 2005-2006 where it was noted that £765,000 was paid into the trust by Celtic.

A statement from the SPL on Wednesday read: “We have seen reports regarding an EBT in relation to a former player of Celtic FC.

“The SPL has investigated the arrangements and documentation in that case and has determined that there is no evidence of any breach of SPL Rules. The SPL has therefore decided that no further action should be taken.”

Celtic released Juninho in April 2005, seven months into his two-year contract after coming to a mutual agreement with the club.

This came after Rangers chief executive Charles Green stated that the newco owners would not cooperate with the SPL commission led by Lord Nimmo Smith, which is investigating the Ibrox club’s use of EBTs.

In media interviews this week, Mr Green claimed there were at least two other SPL clubs who employed EBTs, but he refused to give any further evidence regarding them.

The SPL also responded to this in the statement: “The Scottish Premier League notes the recent statement by Charles Green suggesting that a number of other clubs may have used EBTs. If anyone has any evidence that any SPL Rule has been broken by any club in relation to the use of EBTs, they should pass that evidence to the SPL or to the Scottish FA so that their claims may be investigated.”

so reading between the lines Celtic did it once realised it was dodgy and sckullduggery and declared it openly and cancelled it,

and that my friend is the honest way to do it, not so rangers, they knew it was wrong but Hey its the rangers way, win anyway you can. what a scummy club

  • Andybhoy says:

Putting EBT’s and everything else aside can I just congratulate you on the quite staggering and utterly shameless level of hypocrisy you have managed to achieve with your ‘a cheap attempt to rewrite history’ comment.

I mean WOW that is quite a statement when you consider you lot have been in overdrive in your attempts to rewrite the history books by trying to convince everyone (yourselves included) that you are still the same club, history, titles and all when the facts quite clearly show you are not. Rangers F.C. was liquidated ‘the world’s most successful club’ as you put it is dead, you are now following a tribute act.

Unfortunately for you and your fellow fans stubborn downright refusal to accept reality doesn’t change the facts, you can keep telling yourselves ‘Together We Are Rangers’ over and over and over again but it doesn’t make it true.

By the way as stated above we Celtic fans wouldn’t claim these tarnished titles anyway we would much rather the history books showed they were made null and void as an eternal reminder of the conduct of your former club.
