“I would accept a transfer to Arsenal” – why the Gunners need to act quickly:

|

Given the torrid time Arsenal have had of late in the Premier League, It’s not all that surprising that the media have been working overtime to feed the rumour mill as Arsenal fans desperately await to see if Wenger will break the habit of a lifetime and bring in some inspiration to his injury stricken side. If he is to act, however, he’ll have to do so quickly – the transfer window is all but ready to slam shut.

Which brings me to this latest rumour in the Daily Mirror, linking Arsenal to Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz. Whilst he’s not exactly a well-known name like Edinson Cavani or Karim Benzema he does come with some pedigree and it’s pleasing to see the Gunners linked to the kind of players they need to acquire:

I am a Trabzonspor player until the end of the season; if I were to move abroad I would want to move to a big club. I would accept a transfer to Arsenal.”

The Turkish goal-machine told Turkish State Television channel TRT1:

Yilmaz has quickly established himself in the Turkish National side thanks to his rise to prominence in the Turkish League. As things currently stand Burak is the top scorer in the league with a total of 23 goals from 19 matches – Van Persie-esque. What’s more he has scored 45 goals in 60 appearances for Trabzonspor, a very healthy return for a striker.

He’s 26-years-old, has been around for a while and would come with some experience. Fans are quick to bemoan Wenger’s reliance on young talent, but Burak’s been-there-done-that attitude could surely pay dividends were he to come to the Emirates.

The main concern will be that he’s only proven himself in the Turkish League, which is itself rather a large step down in quality from the Premier League. As such there’s no guarantee that he’d make it in England – but when it comes to foreign players joining English clubs, there never is. Burak can only score against the opposition placed in front of him and who’s to say that he couldn’t score against the likes of Man United and Tottenham?

One thing’s for sure: he has to have more confidence than Marouane Chamakh and he’s surely a better player than Park Chu-Young, Arsenal’s missing strikers.

Arsenal need reinforcements and he’s ready to move. Given that he wouldn’t cost a fortune, I don’t see why Wenger doesn’t give him a try. Eduardo da Silva made the step up when he joined from a Croatian club back in 2007 and perhaps Burak could do. Surely it’s time for Wenger to role the dice?

But why on earth did we buy Park?

  • Eugene Danso says:

AW must be sacked 4 buying Park if is actually a profit oriented manager.

  • Moses Abuje says:

AW should buy and not making stories, he is waiting to see Van Persie going to injury before giving excuses.

  • Gbolahan Odumosu says:

Does Wenger read all these messages at all,if not it will just be a waste of time for one to write everytime, everybody apart from Wenger knows Arsenal need experienced and quality players but this man has refused to buy,I am sick and tired of him.

    • Mr Finch says:

Ofcourse he reads all these messages…in fact he’s got nothing better to do except listen to people who don’t know a thing about football.

  • kiki says:

yes i totally agree with u moses, that’s what he is waiting 4, an excuse when van gets a knock. I pray by then henry must have gone back to mls, i can see van persie leave in the summer.

    • Mr Finch says:

Arsenal don’t need supporters like you who wish bad for the club. Go and support Chelsea or someone else.

      • dev says:

nobody here wishes bad for the club.just because we dont support wenger doesnt make us support Arsenal any less. We are Arsenal fc fan not Arsene Fc. maybe u cant see the difference, but we do

  • Mr Finch says:

He’s linked himself to Arsenal, Arsenal haven’t shown any interest in him. Before you start mouthing off at Wenger for not going for him, remember that the last great striker to leave the Turkish league and come to the Premier was the mighty Tuncay who can’t even get into the Stoke team.

  • Peterbrown says:

Please AW i beg you in the name of God,get us a quality striker that can heal the wounds of die hard arsenal fans like me in particular,i feel pity to see spurs want to overthrown our mantle,if it means borrowing 4rm the fans, since the board are adamant all they no is their pocket, pls do.

  • Bart says:
