According to reports from The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in the battle to sign Bournemouth midfielder Matt Ritchie during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old was one of the driving forces behind the Cherries promotion bid last term, claiming 15 goals and 17 assists in 46 Championship appearances, and has continued to impress in the top flight this season.

Indeed, the wide midfielder has recorded three goals and six assists in 30 Premier League outings, whilst averaging an impressive 1.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.2 created chances and 1.3 accurate crosses per match.

A number of the division’s top clubs have taken note of the ease in which the Scotland international has transitioned to Premier League level.

Manchester United, Everton and West Ham were all linked with Ritchie ahead of the January transfer window, whilst The Sun document long-term transfer interest from Chelsea as well.

But the latest club to join the race for the playmaking midfielder are unexpected title chasers Tottenham Hotspur – with manager Mauricio Pochettino famed for his willingness develop promising home-grown talent.

Ritchie certainly falls into that category and with his Bournemouth contract verging upon its final two years, manager Eddie Howe may feel the pressure to sell during the coming transfer window.
