According to reports from Mirror Football, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are targeting AFC Wimbledon defender Ryan Sweeney ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old, who measures in at a towering 6 foot 4, made his debut for the League Two club at the end of last season and has featured prominently since signing a professional contract in February – going on to score once in nine league outings for the South Londoners.

According to Mirror Football, Spurs and the Hammers have both sent scouts to run the rule over Sweeney twice already this season and their interest appears to be mounting ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, Championship outfits Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield have already made ‘personal checks’ and should the Ireland U18 international be interested in a summer transfer, the stronger likelihood of first-team football could give them an advantage over the Premier League duo.

Wimbledon are currently ninth in the League Two table – four points off a playoff spot.
