According to reports from London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to ‘step up their interest’ in Marseille striker and reported Arsenal target Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgium international attracted Premier League interest last summer following a decent debut campaign at Stade Velodrome and has continued to impress this year, amassing 16 goals across all competitions. That includes a return of twelve strikes and seven set-ups in the French top flight.

Over the last few months, he’s been linked with a host of English clubs not least including Stoke City, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Newcastle United, but Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur remain the stand-out suitors.

The north London duo were both linked with the 22-year-old during the January transfer window until a new contract with Marseille ruled out any chance of a mid-season move.

But according to LES, Spurs are ready to ‘step up their interest’ in the £35million-rated striker as they look to bolster a squad that is set to compete in the Champions League next season.

It is further insinuated – although not directly said – that the Lilywhites will look to agree a deal before Euro 2016. Depending on his performances and Belgium’s progression at the tournament, Batshuayi’s value could soar next summer.
