According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Marseille rejected a £22million bid for prodigious forward Michy Batshuayi during the summer transfer window.
The 21 year-old joined the Stade Velodrome ranks in a £4.8million deal last summer after bagging 40 goals in 95 league appearances for Standard Liege and transitioned his superlative form to Ligue 1, netting nine times during his debut campaign.
He’s started the 2015/16 season even stronger, grabbing three goals and two assists in five league outings, although it hasn’t particularly aided L’OM’s cause with Vincent Labrune’s side currently languishing in 11th place.
The 5 foot 11 striker has been on the radars of several Premier League clubs for some time, following a pattern of Belgium internationals proving hugely successful in the English top flight. North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were both strongly linked throughout the summer amid their searches for added firepower.
And according to The Daily Star, an unnamed Premier League club saw a £22million bid for the one-cap international rejected during the transfer window – apparently falling some way short of Marseille’s valuation.
The British tabloid, however, insinuate Arsenal and Spurs could revive their interest in Batshuayi when the transfer window reopens in January.
