Mourinho has built an empire in preparation for this season

According to reports from The Independent this afternoon, Chelsea have agreed a fee with Augsburg for left-back Abdul Rahman Baba.

The 21 year-old has just come to the end of a real breakthrough campaign at the SGL arena, claiming four assists in 31 appearances whilst averaging the second-most tackles per match (3.5) of any player in the Bundesliga  – leading The Evening Standard to describe him as the best left-back in the division last season.

The Ghana international has resultantly been linked with a host of top European clubs clubs this summer, including Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid in May, Arsenal and Chelsea in June, and Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma last month.

But Stamford Bridge has been documented as his likeliest next destination for some time, with some reports evening claiming Abdul Rahman Baba has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions.

And according to The Independent, who source German publication Bild, Chelsea have now reached an agreement over price with Augsburg – believed to be £17.6million.

It follows the departure of Brazil left-back Filipe Luis, who returned to Atletico Madrid earlier this week after just one season in west London.
