Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the race to land a summer transfer deal for VfB Stuttgart full-back Borna Sosa.

The north London club brought in a new full-back during the previous January transfer window in the shape of Pedro Porro, who the Lilywhites will pay £39m for in the summer once his initial £5m loan spell ends.

With that in mind, it has been claimed that the club could be looking at securing a deal for another full-back currently making a name for himself abroad.

According to a recent report from SportBild (via Sport Witness) Spurs are interested in signing Sosa this summer, as are the likes of Sevilla and Real Sociedad.

The report also adds that a summer exit could be on the cards for the full-back, who would be open to making a move when the window opens.

Having worked his way through Dinamo Zagreb’s youth ranks and making 41 senior appearances for the club, the 25-year-old joined Stuttgart back in the 2018 summer transfer window.

Since then, the left-back has gone on to make 101 appearances for his current side across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing 32 assists along the way.

With 17 Bundesliga appearances to his name this season, the Croatian, who has been described as an “exciting” player by journalist Josh Bunting, has shown how much of a capable attacking full-back he is.

Do Spurs need to sign a left-back this summer?

For example, in addition to scoring two goals and supplying six assists, the left-back has made more key passes (44), passes into the penalty area (39) and shot-creating actions (68) than any other player at Stuttgart.

His overall performances have earned him a strong season rating of 7.07/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest-rated player at the club.

Taking into account how Spurs have a lower rate of shot-creating actions (24.25) in the Premier League this season than the likes of Newcastle United (24.68), Manchester United (24.81) and Brighton & Hove Albion (25.64), adding a player like Sosa to their squad will surely improve their attacking and creative strength.
